Statement On Horrific Attack Against LGBTIQ+ Community In Bratislava

Forbidden Colours is deeply saddened by the news of the killing of two people in Bratislava, Slovakia on the night of 12 October 2022. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victims of what is most certainly a hate crime against LGBTIQ+ people. It appears that the presumed author of the facts had been vocal on social media about his intentions to commit such a crime and that he published a hate manifesto against people form minorities hours before the dreadful act.

This tragedy is yet another example of what indoctrination in so-called “traditional family values” generates: the hatred of other human beings to the point of murder.

Beyond the sorrow and anger, Forbidden Colours feels compelled to keep fighting to make sure that such narratives are deconstructed and eradicated. We will keep working to ensure that LGBTIQ+ people can live their life in freedom and safety, anywhere in Europe and beyond.
